Fisher Phillips Memphis Office Attorneys Listed in 2017 Mid-South Super Lawyers and Rising Stars

Fisher Phillips today announced that three of its Memphis attorneys, partner David Jones, senior counsel Jay Kiesewetter and managing partner Jeff Weintraub, were selected for inclusion in 2017 Mid-South Super Lawyers by their peers. Attorneys Courtney Leyes and Gabriel McGaha were also listed in Rising Stars.

Mid-South Super Lawyers rates extraordinary lawyers, who have achieved a high degree of peer recognition and professional accomplishments, from more than 70 practice areas. The multiphase rating process combines independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations, with each candidate evaluated on 12 different indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selections are completed on an annual, state-by-state basis. The final published Super Lawyers list represents the top five percent of the lawyers in the state, and no more than 2.5 percent are named to Rising Stars.
David Jones was selected for inclusion in 2017 Mid-South Super Lawyers in the immigration category. As a partner in the Memphis office of Fisher Phillips, Jones practices exclusively in the area of immigration and related employment and compliance matters. He represents clients in complex matters relating to both immigration benefits and enforcement and in proceedings before the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Labor, the Department of Justice and the Department of State, as well as in matters related to citizenship status discrimination and export control compliance under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR). Jones is a syndicated columnist, author and regular conference speaker, through which he provides guidance and insights to the public on a variety of immigration topics and issues.
Jay Kiesewetter was selected for inclusion in 2017 Mid-South Super Lawyers in the employment and labor law category. Kiesewetter represents clients in the traditional areas of labor relations and employment law. He counsels employers in all aspects of union-free management and advises non-union companies facing union organizing activity. Kiesewetter has been included in The Best Lawyers in America, as well as Chambers USA, since 2005 and has been recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers for 10 consecutive years.
Jeff Weintraub was selected for inclusion in 2017 Mid-South Super Lawyers in the employment and labor law category. Weintraub represents employers in jury trials and employment lawsuits, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) collective actions, labor cases and the like in all federal and state courts and agencies, various Courts of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has been included in The Best Lawyers in America since 1995, as well as Mid-South Super Lawyers every year since 2005.
Courtney Leyes was selected for inclusion in 2017 Mid-South Rising Stars in the employment litigation: defense category. Leyes has experience representing employers in litigation related to discrimination and harassment in the workplace, which has included representing clients in federal jury trials. She also represents employers on wage and hour issues in both the court system and before the DOL’s Wage & Hour Division. Specifically, she has represented employers in several FLSA collective actions over the past couple of years. Leyes received the Memphis Business Journal's 2017 Best of the Bar award for Ace Associate and has been listed in Mid- South Super Lawyers Rising Stars since 2014.
Gabriel McGaha was selected for inclusion in 2017 Mid-South Rising Stars in the employment litigation: defense category. In his role as associate, McGaha represents clients on a variety of employment-related matters, including those involving harassment, discrimination and retaliation claims. He has significant experience preparing matters for litigation, as well as serving as lead counsel at trial. McGaha received the Tennessee Bar Association 2017 Larry Dean Wilks Leadership Award and has been listed in Mid-South Super Lawyers Rising Stars since 2016.
