Fisher Phillips’ Managing Partner Appointed Chair-Elect for Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce

TAMPA (December 27, 2017) -- The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce has selected Steve Bernstein to serve as Chair-Elect of its Board of Directors for 2017. Bernstein is the Regional Managing Partner for the Tampa office of Fisher Phillips, a leading labor and employment law firm.

In the volunteer position, Bernstein will work closely with fellow Chamber leaders and local business leaders to help determine priorities and implement strategies for connecting, enriching and expanding Tampa Bay’s burgeoning business community. He will also help to implement the Chamber’s innovative ten-year Vision Plan.

Bernstein has maintained a traditional labor practice for 26 years, representing employers throughout the United States in both state and federal courts. He advises clients on union-related matters and compliance with various wage and hour regulations, including the National Labor Relations Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act. He also devotes a significant portion of his practice to the implementation of preventive employee relations programs that include supervisory training and effective human resources policies and practices.

The new Executive Committee members and Board of Directors were recognized at the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Meeting on Dec. 15, 2016 at the Tampa Convention Center. Bernstein’s term begins Jan. 1, 2017.  

A Tampa resident, Bernstein was elected to the Chamber’s Executive Committee in 2012 and previously served as Treasurer, Legal Counsel and Policy Council Co-Chair. After serving as Chair-Elect in 2017, he is slated to become Chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors in 2018.

Bernstein is actively involved in the local and legal communities and is a past president of the Academy of Florida Management Attorneys. He was also named Best Lawyers’ 2017 “Lawyer of the Year” for Labor Law-Management in the Tampa region.
