ATLANTA, GA (January 8, 2009) - The national labor and employment law firm Fisher Phillips announces a major initiative to bring legal educational programs to regional settings and to clients' own offices -- for the convenience of employers around the nation. Knowing that many organizations are reducing or eliminating discretionary business travel in 2009, the theme of the national educational effort is "This Year, We're Bringing It to You."
"This Year, We're Bringing It to You" is a series of breakfast briefings and webinars designed for human resources professionals, in-house legal counsel, risk managers and other managers who must deal with workplace legal issues. The seminars cover important legal topics with an emphasis on recent and pending changes to workplace-related laws. Breakfast briefing events last two to three hours and webinars typically last one hour.
The firm's attorneys will discuss topics that include the Employee Free Choice Act, the new Family and Medical Leave Act regulations, the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act, the RESPECT Act, the Paycheck Fairness Act, the Arbitration Fairness Act, the Employee Misclassification Prevention Act, the Healthy Families Act, and the Workplace Religious Freedom Act. The seminars will contain timely, updated information on these and other important workplace legal developments.
The firm will present webinars on these topics as well, in which clients can participate from their desks. Webinars will also be offered on minimizing legal risks in downsizing a workforce and on the new e-verify work authorization requirements.
Chairman and Managing Partner Roger Quillen said, "The recent, rapid economic downturn has forced employers to re-examine their willingness to spend money on travel to large, educational conferences. Our new program brings the knowledge to our clients as opposed to our asking them to come to us."
