Fisher Phillips, one of the country’s preeminent labor and employment law firms representing employers, is pleased to announce the addition of Jang Im, who joins as Partner, and Arit Butani, who joins as Of Counsel in the firm’s San Francisco office. With more than three decades of combined experience, Jang and Arit expand the firm’s Immigration practice in California. They join shortly after the arrival of Elissa Pinto, who joined the firm’s Immigration practice in Detroit last month.
Jang was previously the head of a national law firm’s Immigration practice where he provided U.S. legal immigration support and representation to a variety of the firm’s clients in the technology, finance, healthcare, life sciences, fashion and consulting industries. At Fisher Phillips, he will help employers and their employees comply with immigration laws, I-9 verification requirements, SSA No-Match Letters, and secure documentation, visas and permits necessary to hire executives, managers and other critical employees. In addition to his private practice, Jang draws on his experience as an in-house immigration counsel to balance strict compliance requirements with sensitivity toward the unique personal circumstances of new hires.
Jang earned his J.D. from San Francisco Law School and his B.S. from the University of San Francisco. He is actively involved in the American Immigration Lawyers Association and has held leadership positions with the Korean American Bar Association of Northern California, International Association of Korean Lawyers, and the Korean American Professional Society. Jang is fluent in Korean.
Arit provides strategic immigration counsel to employers in a variety of industries, including software companies, biotechnology companies, architecture firms, financial institutions, manufacturing companies, entertainment companies, IT consulting firms, and staffing agencies. He has extensive experience in a variety of employment-based matters, including PERM, PERM audits, immigrant visa petitions (EB2/EB3), multinational manager petitions, I-9 compliance, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, and L-1 case, as well as family-based immigration.
Arit earned his J.D. from Western Michigan University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School, and his B.A. from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. In addition to California, he is admitted to practice in Washington State. Arit is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and South Asian Bar Association of Northern California. He is fluent in Hindi.
“Jang and Arit are strategic additions to our growing Immigration team across the country,” said Davis Bae, Co-Chair of Fisher Phillips’ Immigration practice. “They are an important part of our expansion on the West Coast, but also represent our broader commitment to advising our clients through the increased complexity of immigration law and policies in the U.S. Having a multi-state presence allows our team to leverage Jang and Arit’s experience to greater effect as we continue to build a practice that is strategically positioned to respond to our clients’ growing immigration needs.”
