Fisher Phillips Expands Employment Litigation Team in New England

News

9.16.25

Fisher Phillips, an international labor and employment law firm representing employers, is pleased to announce that Joseph Mendes has joined the firm as Partner in the Boston office. He brings over a decade of litigation experience, including bringing more than 100 trials to verdict, and will immediately contribute to litigation matters across the firm's New England footprint.

Joe joins from a regional firm where he focused his practice on civil litigation, handling complex cases including employment disputes, construction accidents, premises liability, professional negligence, and catastrophic injury. He has appeared in state and appellate courts in Massachusetts and Maine, as well as federal courts in both jurisdictions. At Fisher Phillips, Joe will provide litigation support for clients in Massachusetts and Maine as the firm’s needs continue to grow across New England.

"Joseph is a perfect fit for our firm and brings the formidable trial experience our clients need," said Josh Nadreau, Regional Managing Partner of Fisher Phillips’ Boston office. "His extensive experience as a first-chair litigator and his entrepreneurial spirit align perfectly with our culture and support our strategic goal of hiring attorneys who can guide clients through the full lifecycle of a litigation matter. And with deep roots across Massachusetts and Maine, he will be an immediate asset to our clients across New England facing trial-intensive matters.”

Joe joins a growing team of employment litigators who have joined in offices across the country. The firm recently added partners Ron Brand in Irvine, California, Rassa Ahmadi and Katie Custer in Denver, Cheryl Blount and Emily Harbison in Houston, James “J.T.” Holt in Pittsburgh, and Gregory Hendershott in Seattle to expand the firm’s high-stakes litigation team.

Joseph earned his J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

Also joining the Boston office is Marissa Mugan, a litigation associate whose practice focuses on defending clients against employment-related claims and counseling on workplace investigations. She also advises organizations on maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and drafts and revises employee handbooks, policies, and training materials to address relevant legal issues and minimize risk.
