Fisher Phillips, one of the country’s preeminent labor and employment law firms representing employers, is pleased to announce that Marilynn Schuyler has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the San Francisco office. She expands the firm’s Affirmative Action and Federal Contract Compliance practice on the West Coast.
Marilynn has more than 30 years of experience advising senior government and industry leaders in affirmative action; federal contract compliance; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and equal employment opportunity matters.
Before joining Fisher Phillips, Marilynn represented clients in connection with federal agency audits and advised and trained clients on EEO, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accommodation-related workplace issues, and prepared numerous Affirmative Action Plans in compliance with the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regulations. Notably, she established and chaired a coalition of academic institutions in recommending changes to federal regulations, resulting in the first publication of OFCCP’s Educational Institutions Technical Assistance Guide.
She previously was a senior attorney and OFCCP Director of Affirmative Action Program Development for an Am Law 50 firm in Washington, D.C., where she developed Affirmative Action Plans for federal contractor clients, led clients through audits, and represented them before the OFCCP in connection therewith, developed relevant policies and conducted training on EEO and affirmative action issues.
Marilynn was employed with the U.S. Department of Labor for over ten years, including serving as Assistant District Director in OFCCP’s Oakland, California office. She also served as the Affirmative Action Officer for the Office of the President at the University of California. She has extensive experience handling employment and compliance issues for federal contractors, including several university systems and colleges.
Marilynn earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was an editor for the Poverty Law Journal. She earned her B.A. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was an Alumni Scholar.
