Fisher Phillips, an international labor and employment law firm representing employers, is pleased to announce that Mariana Baron has joined the firm as Partner in the Portland, Maine office. Mariana expands the firm’s Immigration and International Employment practice groups and is the fifth partner to join in Maine since the firm opened the Portland office in February 2025.
Mariana's practice focuses on guiding corporate and individual clients across different industries through a wide array of inbound corporate immigration needs, as well as complex domestic and cross-border legal issues, including global mobility, outbound immigration, cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and international tax compliance. Her unique experience fills growing client needs at Fisher Phillips, aligning seamlessly with the firm's Immigration and International Employment practice groups.
In her Immigration practice, Mariana regularly helps seasonal employers develop and implement solutions for short- and long-term immigration needs, including winter and summer seasonal resorts and other employers in the hospitality sector. On a broader basis, Mariana’s immigration work involves both immigrant (permanent) and nonimmigrant (temporary) work visas.
Mariana's international legal experience, including time as an attorney in Argentina and her work for a law firm in Switzerland and Boston, provides her with unique insight into the complexities of multi-jurisdictional laws and regulations. At Fisher Phillips, Mariana will help the firm’s Immigration and International Employment teams provide clients with results-driven, business-centric and globally-minded guidance, navigating the legal, regulatory, and cultural nuances of multi-jurisdictional issues.
"Mariana's immigration, global mobility and international tax practice is a key addition for us," said Chris Stief, Regional Managing Partner of Fisher Phillips’ Portland office. "Domestically, her inbound immigration practice includes extensive work with key Maine employment sectors such as hospitality and tourism. At the same time, I am confident that clients in Maine and beyond will benefit from Mariana’s multi-national experience, which positions her well to help those clients who have a multi-national workforce or are considering cross-border expansion.”
Mariana earned her J.D. from Universidad Austral and her M.T. in Tax Law from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, both in Argentina. She later obtained her LL.M. in Business Law and Commercial Law from Boston College Law School.
