Fisher Phillips Attorney Recognized for Leadership in the Law

COLUMBIA, SC (January 28, 2013) – Fisher Phillips announces that attorney Karen Luchka Wingo of the Columbia office has been selected as a recipient of the South Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s 2013 Leadership in the Law award. She will be recognized at the Leadership in Law awards dinner on March 14 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston.
The Leadership in the Law award was created to spotlight members of the legal community whose leadership, mentoring and community involvement has made a positive impact on the profession and the state.
Luchka Wingo is a labor and employment attorney who represents management and employers in cases pending in both state and federal court, as well as in agency proceedings. She focuses her practice on providing practical and proactive advice to clients aimed at minimizing the risk of litigation and improving employee relations. She provides training to human resources professionals, managers and supervisors on the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, harassment and discrimination, social networking and electronic workforce issues, and many other employment and labor related subjects. Karen is also a frequent lecturer at seminars on a variety of employment related topics, as well as legal ethics.
Karen is also committed to service to the bar and to the community. She dedicates her time to the Girl Scouts of South Carolina Mountains to Midlands Council and is a member of the board of directors, chair of the Council’s Women of Distinction event, chair of the Nominating Committee and an active members of two other committees. She also serves as the Secretary and a member of the ACTS Metro board of directors and as the Legislative Chair and member of the board of directors for the Columbia Society for Human Resource Management. She also volunteers her time as a judge at mock trial competitions hosted by the South Carolina Bar.
Karen is a partner at Eastlake Community Church and serves the church in various capacities, including as a regular greeter.
