Fisher Phillips Attorney Elected President-Elect of South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division

COLUMBIA (February 16, 2018) – Fisher Phillips announced today Sheila Willis has been elected to serve as president-elect of the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD). The YLD, which coordinates various programs across the state designed to serve the public and advance the legal profession, is a branch of the South Carolina Bar comprised of members under the age of 36 and those with less than five years of membership.
“Sheila is an accomplished attorney who works diligently to provide both her clients and peers with excellent counsel and guidance, and her new role as president-elect reaffirms that,” said Stephen Mitchell, managing partner of the Columbia office of Fisher Phillips. “We are proud to support her as she begins her new leadership role.”
Prior to her election, Willis served as the YLD secretary treasurer. Additionally, she was the recipient of the President’s Award, an honor given in recognition to YLD members who exemplify dedication to public service and YLD initiatives, for her work as the statewide chair of the Cinderella Project, a program provides gently used and new prom dresses, shoes and accessories to high school students all over the state.
Willis represents employers in a variety of labor and employment matters, providing advice and counsel on employment discrimination and pay equity, as well as litigating employment matters in federal and state court. In addition to her involvement with the South Carolina Bar YLD, Willis serves on the board of directors for the Columbia Society for Human Resource Management and is president of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association. She is also active in the Richland County Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Junior League of Columbia.
Willis received her law and undergraduate degrees from the University of South Carolina.
