Fisher Phillips, an international labor and employment law firm representing employers, is pleased to announce that Catherine “Ree” Harper has joined the firm’s national PEO and Staffing practice group. She will assist PEOs and other clients nationwide with their most pressing employment law needs.
With over 25 years of experience working at the intersection of employment law, human resources, and accounting, Ree brings a unique perspective to the firm’s PEO clients. She was previously general counsel and senior vice president of human resources for Lyons HR, where she had a proven record for leading complex legal and human resources initiatives both internally and externally. At Fisher Phillips, Ree will leverage her direct knowledge of the PEO industry to help clients navigate state and federal compliance, risk management, and industry best practices.
“I have worked with Ree for many years in support of the National Association of Professional Organizations (NAPEO) and served on the NAPEO Board of Directors with her. I am proud to have Ree join our large team of lawyers supporting our PEO and staffing company clients,” said John Polson, Co-Chair and founder of Fisher Phillips’ PEO and Staffing Practice. “Ree’s arrival to Fisher Phillips brings automatic value to our clients who are seeking a business partner to help them succeed – whether it’s starting from scratch as a startup or helping established businesses stay ahead of state and federal legislation that impacts their operations.”
A large part of Ree’s practice will focus on helping PEOs keep up with changing state and federal laws impacting the industry; drafting and implementation of policies related to privacy, data and records retention, immigration, and tax and benefits; and coordinating EPLI and workers’ compensation litigation. She will serve as a key resource to the firm’s PEO and Staffing practice to help clients nationwide with accreditation and licensure.
Ree is an active member of NAPEO, the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations where she previously served on the Board of Directors and Chaired the Healthcare Committee. She has served on the organization’s Legal Advisory Counsel, Federal Government Affairs Committee, State Government Affairs Committee, and various working groups. She earned her J.D., with honors, from Birmingham School of Law and her B.S. in Accounting from Auburn University.
Fisher Phillips has one of the country’s preeminent PEO and Staffing practices with attorneys who literally helped shape the PEO industry since its beginnings. With attorneys across the U.S. and Mexico, the practice assists both startups and established PEOs and staffing companies with a wide spectrum of workplace-related services: litigation, HR compliance, licensing, tax and benefits, M&A, immigration, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and privacy.
