Retaining and advancing women in law has been a longstanding priority for Fisher Phillips. In an interview with Crain’s Cleveland, Melanie Webber, partner in the firm’s Cleveland office and chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative and Leadership Council (WILC) spoke with reporters regarding the firm’s efforts to retain top female talent and develop the firm’s future leaders. Melanie explains that WILC has helped the firm implement programs aimed at improving career trajectories for women, including appointing leave liaisons for attorneys who are taking a leave of absence, ramp-up/ramp-down policies that reduce work demands during transitions, and leadership development and opportunities.
As Fisher Phillips reinforces its commitment to elevating female attorneys inside and outside the firm, Melanie says, "Larger organizations are also mandating law firms staff their cases with diverse attorneys, including women attorneys. It will be a combination of each firm's commitment to advance women and support from outside organizations that see the opportunity in more diverse work groups."
