The DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs re-established the role of ombudsperson and clarified existing auditing policies and procedures. In the Bloomberg article “Federal Contractor Office Brings Back Ombuds Position,” Columbia partner Cheryl Behymer comments on the changes, noting that “in the absence of the ombudsperson, there was worry that any concerns expressed would be held against the contractors. Previously, a contractor could complain through OFCCP channels, but if it were the subject of an open audit, there was a concern that the agency would not react well to a challenge and might take negative action against the contractor as a result.”
