Fisher Phillips, one of the country’s preeminent labor and employment law firms representing employers, is pleased to announce that Christine Howard has been recognized among the Tampa Business Journal’s 2023 BusinessWoman of the Year Award recipients. Christine is one of 30 women honored this year and was chosen from over 200 nominees. According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, “This award features some of the most dynamic and influential businesswomen in Tampa Bay.”
"I am incredibly honored to receive this award," Christine said. "As a co-founder of Fisher Phillips’ Women’s Initiative and Leadership Council (WILC), this honor is particularly inspiring and a testament to how influential women are in the legal industry and business community. Ensuring that leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities exist and instilling a feeling of pride in our lawyers and staff drives me to continue to serve my colleagues and clients here at the firm and across Tampa’s business community."
Christine is the first female member of Fisher Phillips’ Management Committee and a partner in the firm’s Tampa office. She focuses her practice on the defense of employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints; wage and hour litigation; and employee leave-related complaints, as well as advising and counseling employers in these and other employment related areas. She has frequently been recognized for her work in the employment law arena, including most recently being honored by The Best Lawyers in America, Lawyer of the Year – Litigation – Labor and Employment for 2022, and Chambers USA for Labor & Employment in 2021 and 2022.
When discussing what drives her to succeed, Christine shares that her goal is to make Fisher Phillips an even better place to work while also offering the best service to clients. "This motivation not only helped me grow as a lawyer but also as a colleague and friend to many at Fisher Phillips and across Tampa’s business community.”
She told the Tampa Bay Business Journal that her best piece of advice for young women starting their careers is to look for the best in people and to be receptive and open-minded towards those you might not expect to serve as a mentor or sponsor. "You might be surprised at who can play a critical role in your professional development."
