Boston Attorney Discusses Pay Transparency Laws with Bloomberg Law

News

9.06.22

In an interview with Bloomberg Law, Monica Snyder Perl shares her insight on recent efforts to improve pay equity by the passage of pay transparency laws and notes the increased risk of pay discrimination lawsuits for employers. Pay transparency bills in California, Colorado, and New York are making waves for requiring companies to include a salary amount or range in job ads. These measures help combat pay inequity but also expose employers to risk.

Monica explains that “as more states and cities adopt salary disclosure laws, multi-state employers must consider a nationwide strategy for complying with each law and ensuring their pay practices are equitable. The risks of getting this stuff wrong are pretty significant given the link between pay transparency and retaining their employees,” she added. “Once this stuff is made public, there isn’t going to be anything companies can really hide behind.”
