Bill Would Ban Confidentiality Contracts in Workplace Harassment Cases

Rosemary Gousman was quoted in the NorthJersey.com article “Bill Would Ban Confidentiality Contracts in Workplace Harassment Cases.” Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, D-Teaneck, introduced a bill in the Senate that would make illegal the nondisclosure agreements used in cases between employers and employees who claim to be the target of harassment, discrimination or retaliation in any workplace. 

She says Weinstein’s case, one of habitual sexual predatory behavior, is not the usual case, and to base a law on that would be poor decision-making. 

“I think it’s an overreaction,” she continued. “I think it will have consequences that aren’t the greatest. A lot of times, even if someone was in a situation, whether it was discrimination or harassment, I think they want to shut the door on it, too.”
