Megan Winter from the San Diego office was quoted in the Daily Journal article, “Google Suit Alleging Prior Salary is Inherently Discriminatory Moves Forward”. The lawsuit that claims Google LLC’s use of prior salary to determine the pay of new employees inherently discriminates against women will be moving forward after Google’s failed attempt to reduce the size of the proposed class.
“What the plaintiffs did in the case is they took the Legislature’s rationale for that law against asking for prior salary and used it to state a claim of pay inequity,” said Megan. “I’ve been monitoring these pay equity issues ever since the actual statute came into effect, and it’s the first I’ve seen of this theory.”
