As the government shutdown continues, companies are facing increasing complications with hiring new employees. E-Verify, the system used to check if a person is authorized to work in the U.S., has been taken offline during the shutdown. Atlanta partner and co-chair of Fisher Phillips Global Immigration Practice Group, Shanon Stevenson, explained an interview with Reuters, she is starting to hear from companies who are considering postponing hiring until E-Verify is available. “They don’t want to invest the time and training and find they then have problem,” she said.
