In an interview with Equipment World, Micah Dickie offers insights on OSHA’s proposed reporting standards for workplace illness and injuries. The new proposal would require “high-hazard” employers with 100 or more workers to electronically submit additional information on top of the annual summary reporting. Micah warns that this kind of expanded reporting requirement opens employers up to greater public scrutiny from competitors and organizers. He advises that with the new proposed rules employers should be careful not to include any more details than required by law, and they should evaluate all instances of injury and illness to ensure they fall under OSHA’s new requirements. Additionally, Micah lets employers know that they can have their voices heard by submitting comments on the proposed rules.
