On July 1, 2015, mandatory paid sick leave becomes a reality in California as employers scramble to prepare for the new law. However, employers have discovered that the current law is not a model of clarity. Some details were not thoroughly accounted for, leaving it up to employers to interpret the new requirements with little to no certainty.

The new law was passed by the Assembly on June 22, 2015 and at the time of the writing of this article, was being considered by the Senate.
