Howard Mavity, partner and co-chair of the Fisher Phillips Workplace Safety and Catastrophe Management Practice Group will present a webinar entitled "2015 OSHA Challenges for Distributors, Including the Increasing Ergonomic Claims."
Distribution, logistics and supply chain management has come under increased US Department of Labor, OSHA, and wage-hour scrutiny because of the Administration’s distrust of supply chain strategies, temporary employee usage, and OSHA’s increased focus on ergonomic concerns. 2014 presented six figure Cal-OSHA citations for improper footwear, numerous “Repeat” citations against distribution centers, and Fed-OSHA challenges of conveyors and rack systems. As 2014 came to an end, many food, beverage, wine and spirits distributors were surprised to receive detailed demands for ergonomic measures or follow up letters asking about corrective efforts during the preceding 12 months. Finally OSHA is harshly focusing on joint safety responsibility over temporary workers and subcontractors in many distribution and logistics settings. We’ll review these challenges and best practices going forward.
