The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) recently announced that its inspectors will receive annual and comprehensive training on professionalism when dealing with operators in the enforcement context. The agency recognized that it is vested with "significant, exclusive authority" but put forth a list of indicators of professionalism that it expects its inspectors to meet in discharging those duties. What will this mean for mine operators? In this episode, Chris and Arthur discuss this initiative, what it may look like and when the regulated community could expect to see meaningful change. They also discuss what options mine operators may have if they encounter an unprofessional inspector.
