In an interview with Bloomberg Law, Usama Kahf discussed California Senate Bill 690 and its potential to reshape the state's individual privacy litigation landscape. “Privacy advocates will continue to push back on it, but another source of opposition could come from supporters of CIPA reform who decide the measure doesn’t go far enough,” said Usama. “There’s a counter argument that goes, by not solving all of the problem at once, you’re just simply affirming that CIPA does apply to the internet, and you’re emboldening the claims that are going to continue to be filed under its other sections,” he said. “So, in essence, you’re making the problem worse under the guise of solving one-third of it.”
