In an interview with The American Lawyer, Jeff Smith discusses how employers are planning for their health care budgets as COVID-19 continues to create uncertainty for employees. Jeff advises that while there is evidence that costs won’t increase dramatically, the Delta variant may continue to make employees more cautious. He added: “I have not heard of an employer who had a mid-year renewal, or one last year for this year, complaining about their medical costs more than they normally do. So, it may still be a retraction of normal claims and COVID claims filling in. But then again, those high COVID claims–they’re notable, but they’re not that frequent.”
