In an article published by Bloomberg Law, Ben Ebbink discussed how lawmakers in California and Colorado are fueling a push to keep humans in the loop when businesses use AI to hire and fire employees, with California Gov. Gavin Newsom signing a bill requiring companies to assign a human to “corroborate” AI-powered worker termination or discipline decisions. “All of these bills, they use very large, broad definitions of those terms,” such as what it means for AI to substantially contribute to a decision and trigger disclosure requirements, said Ben.
