Overview

Colin Calvert is a partner in the firm's Irvine office and the co-chair of the Manufacturing Industry Group. He maintains a well-rounded employment law practice, touching on every aspect of the employment relationship. He emphasizes the importance of proactive policy implementation and thoughtful management for his clients. As part of his advice and counsel practice, Colin leads the Firm’s California handbook team and works closely with the Fisher Phillips Innovation and Knowledge Management team to keep core employment documents up to date with California’s ever-changing laws and regulations.

He strongly believes responsiveness, familiarity, and practicality drive the best results and, to that end, he endeavors to understand the operations of his clients at every level to provide guidance that best balances an employer’s legal obligations with business realities. Over the course of his career in Southern California, Colin has had the opportunity to work with employers across the entire spectrum, with extensive experience in the automotive, transportation, property management, manufacturing, and hospitality industries.

At the same time, not all employment issues can be resolved proactively. In such situations, Colin is a firm, creative, and efficient advocate for his clients. Whether dealing with administrative agencies, union contract negotiations, increasingly aggressive plaintiffs’ counsel, or responding to work-related accidents, Colin strives to deliver the best possible results for his clients with an eye toward efficiency and responsiveness. He believes frequent, direct and plain communication between client and counsel is essential and avoids legalese at all costs.
