Many attorneys agree that there is no way for employers to legally stamp out romantic relationships in the workplace.
Michelle explained that more than half of the relationships go unnoticed, particularly in industries that recruit older employees.
“Romantic encounters only become a problem when those relationships are troubled and the fall-out impacts the work setting,” she said.
Industries that attract younger employees, such as hospitality and tourism, often have a higher incidence of cases stemming from troubled relationships, Michelle explained.
