'What's Your Salary?' Becomes A No-No In Job Interviews
In an effort to ensure pay equity for women, many cities and states have banned employers from inquiring about previous salary. Some businesses, however, consider this law to be yet another intrusion. In the article, "'What's Your Salary?' Cheryl says many companies use salary history to set pay and manage their costs. “It’s hard to figure out how to pay somebody a fair amount,” she says. “You’re looking at getting the best employee you can but … there’s nothing wrong with trying to save the company money.”
