Trade Secrets Get Federal Statute
The article, “Trade Secrets Get Federal Statute,” featured in Law Colorado Week, highlights President Obama’s recently signed bill in which the Defend Trade Secrets Act amends the Economic Espionage Act of 1996 to allow a federal civil cause of action for trade secrets misappropriation.
Mike Greco weighed in on the new federal statute.
He said the new federal statue’s uniformity is “tremendous” for companies conducting business in multiple states. For a company based in Colorado with employees in both Colorado and California, the courts in each state might have interpreted trade secrets protections differently under their respective versions of the UTSA.
