Supreme Court Snapshot: Affirmative Action Ruling And Hiring
Brian Finucane was quoted in the Kansas City Business Journal after the Supreme Court ruled that Michigan voters could choose to ban affirmative action through a state constitutional amendment.
Brian said the case effectively upholds similar bans on affirmative action in other states, including California, Florida, Nebraska, Arizona, New Hampshire and Oklahoma.
Other states are likely to follow suit, though he didn’t see a reason for Kansas or Missouri to do so because state's public universities do not use strong affirmative action plans like the one in Michigan.
Brian said there would be little effect on employers as a result of the ruling.
