Supreme Court Deadlock Kills Obama’s Immigration Plans

6.23.16

The article, “Supreme Court Deadlock Kills Obama’s Immigration Plans,” featured in SHRM, reported on the U.S. Supreme Court’s 4-4 decision on June 23 in a case which challenged President Barack Obama’s proposed immigration programs effectively blocking nearly 5 million undocumented immigrants residing in the United States from being granted work authorization.

Scott Fanning weighed in on the decision.

The decision, or lack of one, “will maintain the current status quo for employers,” said Scott. The decision, however, will not affect those original beneficiaries of the initial 2012 DACA because the challengers did not attack the executive action originally establishing DACA, Scott noted.
