Skousen discusses the Paycheck Fairness Act, a bill passed on Mar. 27 that amends the Equal Pay Act and changes defenses for pay disparities from “any factor other than sex” to “bona fide factors.” Attorneys say the changes would expand sex discrimination class actions and company reporting requirements and would give victims stronger tools to assert their rights.
John indicates this change in the area of equal pay could be similar to the recent changes in wage and hour law. He says, “Many employers are going to prefer to settle and survive.”
