The Philadelphia office of Fisher Phillips has announced that it moved into a new, larger space on May 9, 2014, to accommodate the law firm’s growing practice in the area.
The new office will be located at 150 N. Radnor Chester Road, in Radnor, PA.
Since the Philadelphia office opening in 2007, it has grown in size from six attorneys to 20, making it one of the largest of the 31 Fisher Phillips locations in the country.
Since 2009, the firm as a whole, and the Philadelphia office specifically, has seen a marked increase in business, as clients seek more narrowly focused law firms to provide deep and broad experience in labor and employment law, delivered efficiently and cost-effectively. The trend of businesses decreasing the number of outside counsel they engage has been beneficial for boutique firms, such as Fisher Phillips. Some of the national boutiques have increased in size to meet the needs of employers who want all of their labor and employment issues handled by one firm, rather than engaging multiple firms across several states.
Philadelphia Managing Partner Chris Stief said: “We have grown over the years in two ways: one has been growing organically to keep up with client demand; the second has been creating an environment that is attractive to strong lateral partner talent. Both ways have worked well. But now we’ve outgrown our space. The office move supports our long-term goal of continued, strategic growth.” Chris added: “What distinguishes the Philadelphia office is our success in fostering an environment of entrepreneurial creativity. We continuously look for innovative and value-oriented ways to serve our clients’ evolving needs.”
In addition to being one of the firm’s largest offices, the Philadelphia office is home to national leadership of the firm’s International Employment Practice Group, the Employee Defection and Trade Secrets Practice Group, the Electronic Discovery and Computer Forensics team, and the Government Solutions Practice Group.
The Government Solutions group was recently founded by one of two lateral partners the firm added in 2013 when Rick Grimaldi and Lori Armstrong-Halber joined from Jackson Lewis LLP. Grimaldi, the founding managing partner of Jackson Lewis' Philadelphia office, was drawn to Fisher Phillips he said because: “From where I sat it was the most competitive, and still is, of the labor and employment boutiques in the area. The office has a dynamic group of attorneys with a diverse and growing practice.”
Recently, Grimaldi led a launch of the firm’s Government Solutions Practice Group in response to the growing need of companies for advice and information about proposed federal, state and local legislation and regulation that, if enacted, would impact the workplace.

Likewise, the International Employment practice responds to the increasing number of companies that are doing business internationally, and thus finding themselves facing the unique challenges of managing a multi-national workforce. These are two of the areas of growth that the Philadelphia office anticipates over the next several years.
Fisher Phillips routinely works on a wide array of labor and employment matters for a number of prominent clients, such as the University of Pennsylvania, Janney Montgomery Scott and Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. The office also has been heavily involved with The Reading Terminal Market and its Merchants Association, formerly acting as General Counsel to the Merchants Association, and now with one of the office’s partners, Brent Cossrow, sitting on the Board of the Market Corporation.
The firm will occupy 14,887 sq. ft. on the 3rd floor of 150 N. Radnor Chester Road. The new space will include more attorney offices and expanded space for support staff, enabling the office to maintain its pace of growth.
