CCPA Adds New Layer for Busy California Litigators

In an interview with Bloomberg Law, Usama Kahf, shares insights on why new data privacy requirements under the California Consumer Protection Act will likely fuel additional litigation in the state. The mandates include new data requirements on companies and gave consumers the right to sue them for data breaches resulting from poor security practices. Usama says that some attorneys argue that these new mandates allow consumers sue under the CCPA even if there’s no data breach and can open the floodgates to litigation.
