Pro Bono
Fisher Phillips is the first and only national management-side labor and employment firm to invest in a full-time attorney solely dedicated to leading pro bono and community engagement initiatives.
FP’s Pro Bono Impact
FP’s pro bono program provides opportunities for attorneys across the firm to give back to our communities in a variety of ways, including (among many others):
- Supporting Non-Profits and Micro-Businesses: FP is a national leader when it comes to helping local, community-based non-profits and microbusinesses navigate complex employment law issues and thrive.
- Serving those who have served our country: FP attorneys stand up for our country’s military veterans to ensure they receive the benefits and respect they earned, working with legal services organizations including the National Veterans Legal Services Program and Wills for Heroes.
- Advocates for Refuge: FP attorneys across the country partner with organizations including Kids in Need of Defense, the International Rescue Committee, and Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network to provide representation and support for unaccompanied minor immigrants and asylum seekers in their immigration proceedings, ensuring some of our most vulnerable neighbors have the representation they deserve.
- Defending the Innocent: Responding to shocking disparities in wrongful convictions in the U.S., FP attorneys work with the Innocence Project, analyzing applicants’ case files to determine whether cases warrant a full, in-depth review and potential long-term representation through the Innocence Project to seek exoneration.
- Empowering Identity: FP attorneys have helped dozens of low-income transgender and non-binary individuals in their legal name change proceedings. In partnership with organizations including the Tennessee Pride Chamber, Atlanta Legal Aid, and Trans Legal Aid Clinic of Texas, we help our clients take an important step toward making their legal identities match their lived experience.
- Domestic violence restraining order representations in partnership with organizations including Community Legal Aid SoCal, Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project, and Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.
- Court-appointed representations of minors in family law and similar proceedings (i.e., adoptions, dependency actions and serving as guardian ad litem)
Each performance year, attorneys who complete 50+ hours of pro bono work are eligible to direct a $2,500 donation from our own non-profit, FP Cares, to a non-profit of their choice.
With this unique incentive, FP underscores our commitment to supporting and encouraging pro bono legal work, and to providing critical funding for non-profits that our attorneys are passionate about.
