Overview

Rima Sahakyan is an associate in the firm's Los Angeles office. Her practice includes advising and defending employers in all areas of labor and employment law.

Rima’s diverse practice includes litigating claims involving wrongful termination, harassment, retaliation, unfair competition, whistleblower allegations, and wage and hour claims. She represents clients in complex cases involving class and collective wage and hour claims, as well as single-plaintiff and multi-plaintiff actions in state and federal courts involving allegations of misclassification, unpaid wages, and improper meal and rest periods. Rima works closely with clients to help ensure that once a matter resolves, all compliance issues have been actively remedied to prevent future litigation.

In addition to her litigation practice, Rima has a robust advice and counsel practice. She regularly trains and prepares management on issues such as wage and hour compliance, discipline and discharge, leaves of absence under state and federal laws, and reasonable accommodations. Rima also creates employee handbooks and personnel policies tailored to employers in a variety of industries, as well as revises and updates existing policies to confirm compliance with the most up-to-date state and federal employment laws.

Rima was a member of the firm's 2020 Summer Associate class. During law school, she competed on the nationally ranked Byrne Trial Advocacy Team and participated in the Top Gun National Trial Tournament. She was a mentor for the Young Lawyers Program and clerked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office during her first year.

Rima earned her Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. Prior to that, she earned dual degrees, summa cum laude, in Political Science and Criminology, Law & Society from the University of California, Irvine.
