
Overview
Lee Thomas is a partner and tenacious litigator in the firm’s Charlotte office. Lee regularly litigates in state and federal trial courts, as well as various administrative courts such as the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission (OSHRC), the Department of Labor’s Office of Administrative Law Judges (OALJ), the North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission (NCOSHRC), and the South Carolina Administrative Law Court (SCALC). Lee also has experience arbitrating cases with the American Arbitration Association (AAA).
Lee represents employers of all sizes in various industries including automotive, manufacturing, construction, finance, and hospitality. He routinely defends employers in cases alleging discrimination, retaliation, blacklisting, and related claims. Lee also devotes a substantial portion of his practice to helping employers navigate state and federal OSHA inspections, citations, and appeals, and he defends employers against whistleblower complaints lodged under various state and federal statutes involving workplace safety. Finally, Lee assists employers when former employees misappropriate trade secrets and confidential information.
Lee graduated from the University of Virginia and the Charleston School of Law. He began his legal career practicing in South Florida for a personal injury protection (PIP) defense firm. In his first two years of practice, he regularly appeared in state trial courts from West Palm Beach to Miami and conducted over fifty depositions. In 2015, Lee moved to the Charlotte region to be closer to family. He practiced with a real estate and personal injury firm and then spent several years litigating with a regional insurance defense firm before joining Fisher Phillips.
Lee mostly works remotely from Greenville, South Carolina, where he lives with his spouse and rescue dog, Nico.
