
Overview
Justina Yassa defends employers in state and federal courts in various labor and employment disputes, including complex wage and hour litigation, class actions, and PAGA claims. Justina also advises on compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and California wage and hour laws. Additionally, she drafts and revises commercial contracts and employment handbooks, advises on individual and group layoffs, and labor negotiations. Justina's experience includes conducting workplace investigations, providing advice and counsel to businesses on labor and employment matters, and representing employers in administrative hearings.
Before joining Fisher Phillips, Justina was an attorney at a boutique law firm in Sacramento where she focused on advising higher education institutions on California employment law, Labor Code compliance, anti-harassment, and other workplace-related issues.
During law school, Justina worked for the Sacramento District Attorney’s office conducting DUI and parole revocation hearings. She also participated in the Workers’ Rights Clinic representing plaintiffs in California employment matters.
