
Overview
Hyunki (John) Jung is Of Counsel in the firm’s San Francisco office. He represents employers across a wide range of industries, with particular experience advising and defending companies in the AI and broader technology sector, healthcare, retail, construction machinery and equipment, and education.
John has extensive experience defending employers in complex wage and hour class actions and representative actions brought under the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). His practice also includes the defense of claims involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and contract-based employment disputes, in both state and federal courts and arbitration.
In addition to his extensive litigation practice, John regularly counsels employers on day-to-day employment law issues, including hiring and separation decisions, performance management, the interactive process and accommodations, leaves of absence, internal investigations, and the development and implementation of workplace policies and employment-related agreements. He approaches these matters with a practical, business-focused mindset aimed at minimizing legal risk while supporting operational goals.
Before joining Fisher Phillips, John practiced as a labor and employment associate at two AmLaw 100 firms in San Francisco, where he represented employers in a broad spectrum of employment litigation and arbitration matters.
John earned his J.D. from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings College of the Law), where he served as a Staff Editor for the Hastings Business Law Journal. During law school, he received the Best Appellate Brief award in Moot Court and earned CALI Awards for excellence in California Civil Procedure and Healthcare Providers & Law.
