Deanna Maxfield
Special Counsel
Overview
Deanna Maxfield represents employers and businesses across California in employment litigation, defending against discrimination, harassment, failure to accommodate disability, and wrongful termination claims. With more than a decade of experience, she guides employers through all stages of a dispute, from pre-litigation advice through settlement or trial. She also offers practical solutions to workplace challenges, helping employers develop strategies to mitigate liability before disputes escalate.
Before joining Fisher Phillips, Deanna worked at a civil litigation firm in Walnut Creek, California, representing small and medium-sized companies in employment and business disputes and advising on medical leave, overtime, recordkeeping, and other workplace policies. Previously, she spent seven years as a senior associate at a San Francisco plaintiffs’ employment law firm. Her plaintiff-side experience informs her defense strategy, helping her anticipate opposing counsel’s arguments and identify potential pitfalls for employers.
