Overview
Ceci Sun is a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office, where she advises employers on all aspects of employment law and compliance, with a particular focus on practical, business-oriented solutions. She serves as a trusted advisor to management and human resources professionals, providing day-to-day counsel on employee relations, discipline and performance management, workplace investigations, terminations, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Ceci has extensive experience developing and implementing effective workplace policies, handbooks, and employment agreements, as well as conducting large-scale employment practices and wage and hour compliance audits. She regularly guides employers through strategic decisions involving organizational changes, wage and hour classification issues, and risk mitigation related to California’s rapidly evolving employment regulations.
Before focusing her practice on advice and counsel, Ceci litigated a wide range of employment disputes, including single-plaintiff discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination cases, representative actions under the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), and complex wage and hour class and collective actions. This litigation background gives her a pragmatic understanding of risk, allowing her to help clients proactively reduce exposure and resolve workplace disputes efficiently.
Prior to joining Fisher Phillips, Ceci served as in-house employment and litigation counsel for a national restaurant group, where she led workplace investigations, advised on fair employment practices and wage and hour compliance, and implemented training and policy initiatives. Drawing on this in-house experience, she partners closely with clients to design practical solutions that align with their operational realities and culture.
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Ceci frequently works with U.S.-based and international employers with operations in California and across the United States. She has a particular depth of experience representing hospitality and restaurant industry clients, helping them navigate complex wage and hour, scheduling, tipping, leave, and accommodation issues unique to their workforces and business models.
