Brittany L. Swett

A key strength of Britt’s practice is her ability to step into complex institutional environments during periods of transition or heightened scrutiny. Britt frequently serves in interim leadership roles at multiple colleges and universities, including Interim Title IX Coordinator, Director of Investigations, and Deputy Equal Opportunity Coordinator. Through her interim experience, Britt has mentored internal institutional teams responsible for civil rights compliance, investigations, and institutional response. Those experiences inevitably position her afterward to be that much more effective advising educational institutions on structural and compliance concerns.

Before joining Fisher Phillips, Britt was Assistant Director of Interim Services and Senior Attorney at a boutique investigations and resolutions firm, where she managed significant institutional client relationships and provided guidance to attorneys serving in interim civil rights roles. Her prior experience also includes counseling higher education and K-12 clients at a regional law firm and working for more than 3 years in-house at a university as the school’s Title IX Investigator and Prevention Specialist. That background gives Britt a practical understanding of the legal, operational, and community pressures institutions face when responding to sensitive allegations. During law school, Britt had the opportunity to work with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, Program Legal Group, giving her an early close-up look at how the Department approaches both educational policy and investigative processes.
