
Overview
André Sutton is a seasoned labor and employment attorney who advises and defends employers in a wide range of matters including single-plaintiff lawsuits, class and collective actions, and administrative agency claims. With significant experience in both the public and private sectors, he brings a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to litigation, investigations, and compliance counseling.
Before joining Fisher Phillips, André served as Lead Counsel, Labor & Employment within the Cook County Government in Chicago, where he advised leadership on complex legal and business risks, managed internal investigations, and oversaw outside counsel in employment litigation. He worked closely with HR and management on labor relations, policy implementation, and collective bargaining issues.
Previously, in private practice, he represented clients in employment disputes under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and other statutes. He regularly advised on discipline, grievances, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, accommodations, and leave issues. He also led many training programs on EEO compliance and best practices.
Earlier in his career, André represented public entities in state and federal court, handled depositions and dispositive motions, and managed workers’ compensation dockets and labor arbitration preparation at the Chicago Transit Authority.
