The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration states that nearly 2 million American workers report having been victims of workplace violence each year. Many episodes go unreported. The cost of workplace violence is estimated in the billions each year, including poor morale and legal fees and awards. Employers can be held liable for the acts of their employees, even when such acts are intentional and not within the scope of employment. This session will cover preventative measures intended to minimize the risk of bullying, harassment, assaults, and other forms of workplace violence. You will also learn the theories of legal liability used against employers and what to include in workplace violence policies and training.
