Workplace Safety Co-Chair Comments on the Rise of Safety Inspections in Healthcare Facilities

A Bloomberg Law article noted that “[i]nspections of health-care facilities by federal and state workplace safety officials are mounting and most have been prompted by Covid-19 issues.” Fisher Phillips Workplace Safety Co-Chair, Travis Vance, explains that this rise of inspections should prompt healthcare employers to take certain steps to avoid citations. For example, Travis stresses that employers should closely monitor and track the frequently changing federal guidance, and he notes “an employer must document that it updated its practices as guidance changed and that it was following the relevant recommendations when [any] alleged violation occurred.”
