Workplace Safety and Catastrophe Management Partner Discusses Impact of OSHA Court Case

The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals earlier this month sided with a Georgia chicken plant in a ruling regarding workplace safety inspections. The company had resisted when, during an OSHA investigation into a worker injury at the poultry plant, the federal agency attempted to expand its inspection into other hazards.
In the Atlanta Journal-Constitution article, “OSHA court case shows limits on safety inspections,” Howard Mavity, Atlanta partner and co-chair of the firm’s Workplace Safety and Catastrophe Management Practice, discussed how the appeal court’s ruling might lead more companies to resist sweeping inspections.
“The ruling is a game changer for managing inspections,” said Mavity. “Educated employers are going to take advantage of this.”
