The next frontier in emerging diversity issues involves managing expectations and potential rights involving transgender employees and students. This program will address the rights and obligations of various types of schools under relevant federal, state, and local laws and how those laws may impact the school’s decision making on accommodation, discrimination, and harassment issues. We will discuss policy adjustment, restroom/locker room considerations, field trips, athletics, behavior, appearance, public relations, and board issues that should be addressed before the school receives an accommodation request.
