HR.BLR.com interviewed Mike Greco for the July 26 article "Where Does Privacy Stop and the Workplace Begin?" The article considered the case of former New York Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner who apparently used his personal Twitter account to send a lewd photo to someone who says she doesn't know him. The article posed the question: "Since it was his personal account, and the photo was sent to only one person, was that a protected, private communication?" Mike said, "The situation with Weiner illustrates the need for employers to have clear social media and workplace conduct policies, to consistently communicate those policies to their employees, and to implement and enforce those policies." Mike stressed that having a policy and failing to enforce it suggests that the employer is not serious about the policy and could encourage workers to ignore all of an employer's policies.
