In an interview with New Jersey 101.5, Alyssa Musmanno explains how the state’s new legalization of marijuana may impact workplace policies. She says that employers may treat this very similarly to how they treat alcohol use. Employees cannot be impaired during work. As it’s written, the legislation leaves more questions than answers for employers. “Because current testing can't prove whether someone smoked or ingested marijuana this morning or 10 days ago, employers will have to figure out a way to teach their managers and supervisors how to spot the articulable symptoms and signs of marijuana use,” she says.
