Webinar Wednesday - Don’t Get Caught in the Crossfire: Triaging Workplace Violence
Webinar
Columbine. Sandy Hook. Route 91. These names represent three of the most notable, and most deadly, mass shootings our country has seen. The number of mass shootings has, unfortunately, been steadily increasing, with a noticeable surge in recent years. In 2019 alone, the U.S. averaged 1.22 mass shootings per day, resulting in 1,907 total victims, including 441 deaths according to the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit research group that tracks shootings and their characteristics in the U.S. Perpetrators of mass shootings often display warnings signs before violence, such as engaging in recent acts or threats of violence. By learning what the warning signs are and how employers should handle them, you will learn opportunities for intervention that could save lives. According to EverytownResearch.org, a shooter exhibited at least one dangerous warning sign prior to the shooting in more than half of the mass shootings over the last 10 years.
This important presentation will focus on employers’ obligations to employees regarding workplace violence and threats, as well as potential issues and liability stemming from workplace violence. We will also discuss what preventative efforts employers can take, including considerations for workplace violence policies, the impact of the media, and how to best respond to an active workplace violence situation.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing information about joining the webinar.
