If you've ever wondered how "Googling" works so well, it's because they have raters who perform tasks that provide data about the usefulness of their algorithms. While Google ravs about their "army of raters", these raters are actually contractors who are unhappy about the reduction of their hours.
In the article, "The Secret Lives of Google Raters," Ars Technica shares a previous quote by Attorney Lorie Maring in reference to the concept of joint employment. "Historically, you had one employer and that was all that the IRS would recognize," she said. "The concept that there might be more than one common-law employer is more accepted [now]."
